Looking at replacing elected course reps with student jobs, such as one student per school working part time ensuring that course reps are communicating with everyone. This would improve course rep efficiency as they would be working a job, which carries more responsibility and esteem and ensures that they can be monitored more easily.

Thanks for submitting an idea. Course Representatives are elected within their courses based on a recommended ratio of 1 Rep per 25 students. Courses with over 150 students are advised to recruit a minimum of 6 Course Reps plus 1 for every additional 50 students. Courses with fewer than 10 students may choose to self-represent. The reason for this is to ensure that the role of Course Rep, which is voluntary and undertaken alongside study, doesn't become overwhelming for one person. With regards to student jobs, from September 2021, the voluntary role of School Representative is due to be replaced with paid student staff roles tasked with building positive relationships with key partners in the Schools and supporting the Course Reps. There will be one position for each School and the roles will sit within the Students' Union's Student Voice & Insight Team.
