This year the SU is making a video, this should continue into future years and be a regular thing throughout the year, rather than dropping into lectures and seminars. This would be engaging, especially in relation to others that already exist. Students often switch off in lectures, so are less likely to pay attention to SU presence than they would be if they could watch a video, for example during the first academic advisor session when they are taught how to use campus computers.

Thanks for submitting an idea. The Students' Union introduced a welcome video in September 2020 in place of in-person welcome talks which was prompted by the restrictions to working/studying on campus during the Covid-19 pandemic. We can confirm that it is our intention for this method of welcome to the SU to remain in place in subsequent years.

both options are valid, and welcome- time-short-sharp-simple ways of communicating- I am more inclined to watch a 2 min video on my phone that sign on to something- very valid
