The main purpose of this idea is to create a "wild area" at Headingley Campus to make the campus more wildlife friendly.

Following the recent programme on Netflix by Sir David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet, one approach suggested as part of the solution to the environmental crisis is to "rewild the planet". This basically means putting nature at the heart of our decisions. Whilst Headingley campus appears to be quite environmentally friendly already through recycling and use of environmentally friendly products, we can do more. Certain areas of the campus could be just left to nature and potential ideas could include:

- Not mowing certain areas of grass

- Building a pond

- Planting some native plant species

- Sowing a meadow

Any of these ideas and many more that other people may have, could help in making Headingley Campus a more wildlife friendly place.

This is a fantastic idea! I am living at home at the moment and have access to a beautiful forest nearby get to watch variety of birds an animals (there's a family of deer passing by sometimes!) and it makes me so happy. Living close to nature brings incredible benefits to us, LBU must support this project. When we provide a habitat, we could also install cameras to see who visits
